National immunization Awareness Month in August

Avalon Animal Clinic Indianapolis:

National Immunization Awareness Month

Once every year in August, we at Avalon Animal Clinic in Indianapolis as well as others across the United States celebrate National Immunization Awareness Month, seeking to raise awareness for both people and animals to receive vaccines in order to treat diseases and help keep others safe from them. In order to help promote vaccines and their benefits, we are going to teach these benefits and what vaccines do to help keep your pets healthy and disease free.

Why do we celebrate National Immunization Awareness Month?

The awareness movement was first established with the desire to increase education about immunization, particularly as some misinformation had been spreading about it. The American Academy of Pediatrics pushed for medical practices to promote the awareness movement. We at Avalon Animal Clinic believe in the importance of awareness all year 'round. Regardless of whether it's pet immunization of human immunization, both are very important.

What benefits do pet immunizations confer?

All veterinarians recommend that your pets receive the proper pet immunizations. This is not only for the benefit of your pets' health, but also to ensure that other pets, you, your family, and other people are kept safe from any diseases that your pets could contract and spread. Pet vaccinations have done a world of good to ensure that pets are able to live longer, healthier, and happier lives.

Besides the health benefits, most places are going to expect your pets to be vaccinated to prevent the pet from contracting rabies. Not having that done can create a lot of trouble for you, not to mention the risk of your pet getting rabies and then passing the rabies onto you, your friends and family, or your neighbors.
